On May 25, 2026, an open meeting of the student scientific problem group “Current issues in teaching mathematics in educational institutions” was held (group leader Yakovleva O. M., Candidate of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Associate Professor). The group meeting was attended by teachers of the Department of Higher Mathematics and Statistics, as well as higher education students majoring in 014 Secondary Education (Mathematics). The main purpose of the meeting was to consider issues related to the acquisition of practical skills by future teachers in the field of mathematics and modern methods of teaching it. Elizaveta Krasnyanska (MI41 group) reported on the introduction of elements of set theory into the logic course for students in grades 5-6. Using specific examples, she demonstrated the effectiveness of using Euler-Venn circles and the inclusion-exclusion formula for the development of logical thinking in schoolchildren. Kateryna Kubyshchenko (group M51) dedicated her speech to the method of additional constructions in the geometry course for grades 7-9, which significantly simplifies proving theorems and solving basic and complex planimetric problems.
The participants of the meeting noted the high level of preparation of the speakers and the practical significance of the presented materials and discussed the prospects for implementing the proposed approaches into the real educational process during the students' pedagogical practice.
